Three Natural Acid Reflux Remedies

Heartburn can take the fun out of eating. Acid reflux or GERD as it is also known is a burning sensation in your chest and throat caused when the stomach acids backup into the esophagus. The door that is in place to stop this from occurring is weaken and the digestive juices are then able to move back and up instead of remaining in the stomach.
The symptoms of acid reflux include acid indigestion and plenty of belching will occur as a way to release the gases. Over 40% of the population suffers from heartburn. But, if it occurs more than twice a week, it may be GERD, which could more serious and should be checked out. Chest pain is also a symptom of acid reflux as well as nausea and abdominal pain. In fact, the pain could be mistaken for a heart attack.
Acid reflux is hereditary and if you come from a family history of reflux disease, you may be more apt to getting it. However, anyone can get acid reflux. There are however, ways to avoid it and if you have it there are reflux remedies that you can do at home to relieve yourself of it.
Ginger Root Tea: A natural way to put out the fire is sipping on a nice hot cup of ginger tea with honey. Fresh ginger root boiled in water is best although you could use ginger tea bags too. Ginger is also good for upset stomach as it settles down the acid that can cause an upset stomach. That is why it works well for acid reflux. Ginger root tea is probably one of the oldest acid reflux remedies.
Milk: Milk is another natural option. Drink it cold every two hours to get your relief. Drink skim milk instead of whole milk, as it is less fattening. On the same note, ice cream is also one of the many acid reflux remedies effective in relieving acid reflux–vanilla only.
Vinegar: Not as tasty as ice cream or milk, apple cider vinegar is also effective in dissolving the burning sensation of acid reflux. Drink a tablespoon mix with honey in hot water and enjoy it as a tea or you can pop an apple cider pill in your mouth if you can’t stomach the tea version.
